March Update

Hello, sorry it has taken me so long to update this!!!

As you can see in the pictures below, Austin is losing some of his thick hair on top. Sad to see it go, but we know it will come back. Here he is with a goofy look on his face during some tummy time.

We've had a dr. appointment each week to help with his weight gain & nursing. Good news! He's gaining weight - but he's actually gaining more than is suggested each day. At our weight check this week, he was 8 lbs 9 oz. He's growing out of newborn clothes (length-wise) & diapers & into 0-3 months (well the small ones). Here he is cuddling up with his lamb in his crib before his Grandpa came to visit one afternoon.

He caught a bit of a cold and has been making some strange noises when breathing & sometimes stops breathing for a bit. I couldn't take it anymore & took him to a doctor to get checked out. They gave me the assurance I needed & it only cost $25! Well worth it.

We try to get him tummy time fairly often, he seems to enjoy it for the most part. Austin at 6 weeks old is much more awake now days checking out the world. Playtime is fun - dancing to different songs & playing with some of his toys. He seems to enjoy "Locomotion" & "Hokey Pokey". He is talking more & more. He's even started to kind of squeal. He's started to smile, we're waiting for our first full grin. The books say it should happen in the next couple weeks.

This is one of my FAVORITE pictures of him thus far. Here he is 3 weeks old after a bath, giving us a bit of a grin while we are warming him back up in his towel.

SOME UPDATES AROUND OUR HOUSE:
Erik has been back at work for a little over 4weeks now. It takes a lot more work & thinking ahead to care for Austin by myself during the days. When Erik gets home, he can't wait to hold Austin.

Emily's Gram came to stay with us for about a week to make meals & make sure I was getting in a lunch too. We thought it was wonderful to have a hot meal every night! Thanks Gram! We were even able to teach Gram a new card game while she was here.

As some of you know, it takes about 1.5 - 2 hours each time we feed Austin with nursing, burping, supplementing, pumping, & changing. Needless to say Austin & I were not getting much sleep with night time feedings. Erik was wonderful to help with diapers & ensuring I had something to eat & drink during the night, however I needed to recruit more help during the nights. Erik now gets up & feeds him a bottle while I pump. It's working out much better. We're getting more sleep & I seem to have gained more 'mental' capacity now. We have it down to 30 minutes every time he's hungry in the night. Just thought I'd throw that one out there for you soon-to-be mom's as an option!

If you are a night owl & try to get a hold of us...you should know we start getting ready for bed at 7:30! If we do that, we're generally in bed by 9:30. That one I didn't anticipate.

I will try to get this updated more often again! :)
